This summer we have invited guest instructors to teach one-off classes. While all of the classes this month are related to connection and/or flow, each individual class will be separate / distinct from the others.
6-Count Balboa & Shag Transitions - With Conrad and Laura - August 4th
Learn how to texture your shag and Balboa by combining the two. Familiarity with the collegiate shag basic would be helpful, but will be covered in the class. Recognize moves that have the same cadence between dances (lollies and crossover kicks/fall of the log for example).
Spice Up Your Bal-Swing - With Maurice and Sarah - August 11th
Ever thought "how does Maurice do that?" or "how is Maurice's spine okay?" Well, do I have a class of wild signature moves from Lindy Hop that I do in Bal Swing as a combo. These will be pretty common moves to not so common moves.
Interesting Bal-Swing Things - With Peter and Naomi - August 18th
Yes, Peter and Naomi dance balboa too! In this class they’ll teach some of their favorite bal-swing moves.
Laminu in Slow Bal - With Elsa and Dylan - August 25th
Laminu is a slow dance that was a contemporary of balboa in the 1940s and 1950s and popular amongst many of the same dancers in Southern California. In current times, it is often incorporated into “slow balboa” dances. Check out this demo by one of the original laminu dancers, then come to class!
